Taylor-Burton Diamond

This 69 carat dimaond was bought by Richard Burton for Elizabeth Taylor. Thus the name, Taylor-Burton. It was orginally bid by Cartier Inc for a record price of $1,050,000 at an auction. Richard Burton bought it the next day from Cartier for an undisclosed sum.
The first time Elizabeth Taylor wore the Taylor- Burton was when she attended Princess Grace's 40th birthday in Monaco. In 1978, after her divorce from Richard Burton, she auction it off with some proceeds used for building a hospital in Botswana.
It was sold to Henry Lambert, a New York Jeweler, for $5,000,000. It was then sold to its present owner Mr. Robert Mousawad.
