Diamond Cut

The Diamond Cut determines the fire and brilliance of a diamond. The diamond cutter must place each of the stone' facets and angles in exact geometric relation to one another to maximize this fire and brillance.

On a classic round, brillant-cut diamond, 57 or 58 facets must be precisely aligned. The cut had to be in proper proportions. If these relationships are not optimal, the fire and brillance of the diamond are affected, and undesirable visual effects may occur. It is therefore, the nature and extent of these effects that combine to give the diamond its final grade. The diamond's measurement and proportions ar always outlined on its accompanying grading certificate.
